Ethics & Governance Board

The purpose of the E&G Board is:

  • To have an overview of the way in which Khiron operates, through observation and scrutiny of all its policies and procedures
  • To ensure that the therapeutic philosophy is established, maintained and developed
  • To facilitate and endorse best clinical and organisational practice
  • To advise the Board of Directors when referral to external professional and regulatory bodies is needed
  • To be a channel for complaints from residents and staff which have not been satisfactorily resolved by the normal operational procedures

Membership

  • The Board will be made up of up to six internal and external members.
  • There will always be more external than internal members
  • It is chaired by the Medical Director
  • It includes the Khiron staff member, not a Director, who’s responsible for matters of regulation, registration, accreditation, compliance and administrative governance
  • External members include those with relevant clinical and professional expertise
  • It must also include at least two members who have lived experience of receiving treatment at Khiron Clinics

Meetings

  • The normal pattern is to meet four times every year: twice at Khiron House, and twice by video conference call
  • Other Khiron staff can be invited to meetings of the E&G Board, to understand how Khiron works, or to offer feedback to the E&G Board
  • Other advisors or experts can be invited when the E&G Board decides that it is necessary.
  • When the meetings are at Khiron House, it includes informal meetings with residents and staff

Communications

  • The E&G Board receives regular operational information from Khiron Clinics, as agreed annually
  • The Board of Directors (BoD) can refer other issues to the E&G Board
  • The E&G Board discusses these, and can make recommendations to the BoD
  • The E&G Board discussions are confidential
  • The E&G Board can contribute a summary of its work to any annual report compiled by Khiron Clinics
  • Email is used for matters requiring discussion between scheduled meetings

Just a few words to express my deepest gratitude to you for enabling me to be here and finally start my process of healing.

Charlie, 39, Newcastle

I slept 9 hours last night, unheard of. I am already truly grateful for the change I have seen.

Michael, 30, USA

I want to acknowledge all the magic you did and the fact that its still working. I never dared to imagine things could be going as well as they are

We
are
open

Khiron Clinics remains open for admissions. We are continuing to follow all the government advice, along with Public Health England (PHE) and the NHS guidance. We are well resourced and organised to remain as safe as possible, and are carrying out detailed protocols to minimise the risk of transmission. We have contingency plans if a resident shows symptoms (facilities for safe and comfortable isolation, or temporary return home). We have plans in place to continue therapy for residents remotely, in isolation, if necessary. We are also able to ensure that if residents have their therapy significantly reduced or disrupted they will not suffer financially. Our Ethics and Governance Board is actively overseeing of how we are managing the situation.
