Where Does My Anger Come From?

Everything we know about our anger, we learn from somewhere in our loves. Most often, we get our cues about anger from our parents and the people who have a for, stove role in raising us. We watch their reactions listen to the volume of their voice and the choice in their words. We watch them become violent, we watch them, rage, or we watch them become passive and shut down completely. Through observation, we learn what we can and cannot be angry about, how we can and cannot process our anger, and how we should or should not feel when we are angry. We might learn that every reason is a reason to express our anger outwardly or we might learn that there is never an occasion when our anger should show.

Anger is a difficult emotion because of the sheer magnitude of energy behind it. At the core, anger is s survival defense. When we get angry our adrenaline is pumping and our body, as well as our mind, is choosing to fight instead of take flight in the face of whatever is causing us to be mad. Underneath the surface, however Mourikis anger is a secondary e,optional experience to fear and sadness. Whatever has caused us to be mad has like scared us or caused us to feel sad in some way. Dealing with anger is easier than dealing with fear and sadness because anger can make us feel powerful. With all the force of stress hormones pumping through our blood stream we feel empowered as if our emotions are doing something about what has happened to us. We run with the idea that the more angry we become, the more control we have over the uncontrollable thing which has happened in our life. The more realistic this idea seems to be, the more angry we become and the greater affect anger has on our lives.

People take notice when we are noticeably angry. Anger doesn’t have to be rage or violence in any way for it to be noticed. Anger can be apparent in how we talk, how we see the world, how we relate to others, and how we let ourselves love or be loved. If we can find the source of our anger we can let our anger go. We can work through the sadness, the fear, and the pain our experiences have caused us. Rather than fight or take flight, we can simply be, and be at peace.
